How To Share Amazon Affiliate Links On Social Media

Sharing Amazon Affiliate links on social media can be a great way to earn a bit of extra affiliate money. You don’t want to spam your readers, but the occasional sharing of affiliate links that are relevant to your audience can be fun and helpful! (And yes, this post about affiliates, contains affiliate links)

Since my personal blog is about family life, I’ll periodically share things on this topic, on Facebook. I share things like this, this, this and this.

I’ve had several bloggers ask me where to find the link to share amazon affiliate links on social media, so I’m sharing this tutorial today.

First, find what you are wanting to share on amazon. When sharing on social media, I oftentimes look for something that is on discount so that I can show my readers a great deal!

For today’s example, I’ll use one of my favorite ebooks.

When sharing on your blog, you usually head to the area at the top where it says “link to this page”. When sharing on social, you go a bit to the right where you will find a twitter icon and it says “share”. Regardless of where you are hoping to share, select the twitter option.

When you click the twitter icon a tweet-box will pop up. There, you can copy the link (it will be long), but none of the extra text (especially not the via @amazon bit).

Since an obnoxiously long link like that isn’t very pretty on Facebook, next visit bit.ly.com and fill the long link into the bar at the top.

It will then give you a shortened affiliate link that wll look much better on social media. It will look more like this: amzn.to/1mmkjpZ

You can then paste that into your Facebook post along with the product’s image and your own words about why you are sharing it.

To grab the image from amazon simply right click (or control click for mac users) and save the image to your desktop, then re-upload to Facebook or whichever social media platform you are using!

Share amazon links on facebook and twitter

Remember you MUST disclose that it is an affiliate link when using them. You can do this anywhere before the link. You can see a recent example of how I share these links and disclose on my Facebook page.

Happy Sharing!

You can also go to your amazon affiliate dashboard and look for items and they provide a shortened link. I find that easier than going to the main site and using the site stripe.

Excellent post. I dont know why I never thought about linking to my amazon affiliate. You can shorten the link on amazon to avoid the additional step.

Cloaking (changing the URL) is not allowed as per Amazon Affiliate TOS. Amazon now gives the short link to share on social media.
