My name is Linda Kardamis, and I am teacher who’s taking time away from the classroom to raise my son (soon to be 2 kiddos!)
I blog at Teach 4 the Heart, where I strive to help teachers and parents impact the next generation by reaching their hearts. This ranges from tips on classroom management to encouragement to advice on how to truly disciple kids and teens and help them be more like Christ. I’m a fairly new blogger (I started in May 2013), but I love learning and have enjoyed the journey so far. I’m also the author of Create Your Dream Classroom, in which I share the lessons I learned as a new teacher in an effort to help fellow teachers improve their classrooms as well. My husband Tim and I enjoy spending time together, and we especially love vacationing at the beach (although that’s sure more challenging now that it’s not just the 2 of us!)
Do you have a blogging schedule? or just write as you feel inspired? Share what works for you and why!
Yes, I blog twice a week, and I write first thing in the morning, before anything else distracts me. I write a draft of the post one day and then assemble it (proof it, add an image, tags, SEO, etc.) the next. This still leaves one day open to catch up or guest post. I try to think of the topics and even the outline ahead of time (normally while I exercise or do housework) so that I can write the post itself fairly quickly.
What is your blogging niche? Do you think it is important for bloggers to keep to one or two topics, or do you think it is okay for one person to cover multiple categories on one blog? Why?:
For me, it’s a balance. I blog about teaching and parenting, with a focus on big-picture issues and practical help and guidance. As a Christian, I also discuss how to think Biblically about various issues because we can’t teach our kids if we don’t have the proper view ourselves. This focus is narrow enough to have a specific audience but large enough to have plenty to write about. While every blog is different, I do think it’s best for there to be some type of theme, so even if you write about multiple topics, they should tie together somehow in a way that is cohesive. But at the same time, you do need to make sure your topic is not so narrow that you’re going to run out of ideas.

One of my favorite posts I’ve written is entitled Why Do Kids from Good Families Walk Away from the Faith? This question is such an important one for us to consider as Christian parents. There is nothing more precious than our own children, and we need to do all we can to teach, guide, and disciple them and show them that our faith is real.

It’s good to “meet” you! I love meeting other teachers “taking a break from teaching” to be home. I’m excited to read more about you.

Hey Linda! I am also a teacher turned stay-at-home mama. After teaching kindergarten for 14 years, it’s so nice to focus on my own children. 😉
Love your blog and am following along!
