Hi, my name is Caroline. My husband and I have been married for fourteen years, we have five children, and I homeschool them. I blog at Anchored In His Grace, and write about the grace I receive from the Lord in the daily challenges of life. As I receive encouragement from the Lord with each challenging moment, I seek to share that encouragement with my readers. My topics include: parenting, homeschooling, marriage, and any other area where I struggle. As the Lord guides me with grace, I aim to share those experiences with you. And sometimes I mix in some humor, that relates to parenting a large homeschooling family.
How do you balance blogging time and family time?
Ensuring that I don’t become obsessed with my blog is important to me; therefore, I schedule my time blogging. Homeschooling, and having little ones in the house, makes blogging a challenge, but it also creates a natural quite time in the house in the afternoons. This is my primary blogging time. I use this time to write, respond to comments, participate in link-ups, or manage social media. Not all at once, of course! I will also ban myself from blogging one day out of the week, so that I can focus my attention on my other responsibilities.
What is your blogging inspiration?
Real life, everyday challenges inspire me to write, and share with the world. As I run to the Lord for support during trying moments in my day, I hear from him, and see his grace abounding in my life. As I’ve visited with many people over the years about marriage, mothering, and homeschooling, I found people who struggled with similar situations. Yet, like myself, we mom’s feel that we’re the only ones experiencing this situation. I am inspired to write my everyday struggles with the hopes of encouraging other women in similar situations that the Lord is there with us walking us through the muck and mire of life.
Share a link to your favorite post you’ve every written. Why is it your favorite?
Although it’s tough to choose just one post as my favorite, From Overwhelming to Anxiety What’s a Mom to Do, is a post that is near and dear to my heart. It’s one that I love because it reflects a time when I discovered the power of God’s word in my life, and how God showed up when anxiety seemed to overwhelm me. I was blown away at the power of just God’s word, and how to better use it in my everyday life. As I shared this experience with others, I found that many Christians overlook this one aspect of God’s word, just like I do. So, it’s definitely something I want to share with all Christians, and even non-Christians, in order to display the amazing, powerful God we have. Thank you for having me! I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Nice to meet you! I’m excited to go glean some wisdom from a mom who’s further down this road than I am.
Nice to meet you as well, Georgia! So glad to be in the trenches with you. ๐
Hey Caroline! I loved your interview. Especially the tip to schedule blogging time. I love the blog but the time it takes to create a post can be overwhelming.
Thanks, Ashley! I’m with you–love the blog, but overwhelmed. Of course, I feel like that about a lot of things in my life… ๐
