Another great blogger interview here today! I LOVE getting to know each of you more through these interviews! Here’s Kathy!!!
Hi all! My name is Kathy Gossen and I write about my adventures as a developing domestic diva drawing on the divine on Cornerstone Confessions. I am a wife, homeschool mom of two, undercover organizer, musician, and aspiring techie who is seeking each day to grow into the kind of person God wants me to be and live out my faith in the everyday whether that’s organizing my closet for the twentieth time, preparing homeschool lesson plans for two wiggly worms, cooking for a picky eater (aka my husband), or learning how to become a better blogger. In the end I pray that my life song sings of love for my Lord and I hope to encourage others along the way. You can connect with me on Pinterest, G+, Facebook, and Twitter.
How do you battle writer’s block? I have created several backup plans to prevent me from encountering writer’s block. To begin, in my blog and home planner I have a page where I write down future post ideas as they come to me so that when I plan my next month’s posts I have a list from which to choose from. Next, in my file cabinet I have a file folder dedicated to blogging where I keep old magazine articles that I found inspiring or brainstorming scraps that I can pull out at a moment’s notice. And finally, I have a private Pinterest board entitled “Future Blog Posts” where I pin favorite posts from other blogs that give me inspiration for future posts as well. So, thankfully, with these three resources from which to draw ideas I am almost always looking forward to sitting down to write.
What is your blog’s niche? Do you think bloggers much have a specific niche? That one has always been a challenge for me because I like to write about so many different things–blogging, home keeping, homeschooling, cooking, etc.. So, with that said, do I think it is important for bloggers to keep to one or two categories? Yes. Keeping to one or two categories definitely makes it easier to market and can often build a stronger following within a specific niche. While I tend to write about several topics, Cornerstone Confessions centers around one overarching niche–home life. This helps me to focus my energies and keep the interest of my readers. It also allows me to become more of an expert in my niche which in turn earns credibility among my readers. That said, I have heard from several of my readers that they enjoy the variety of my blog so it is also important to make sure you have a variety of topics within your niche in which you can provide a variety of posts to keep your readers interested. One niche. Lots of topic choices. Well that’s my two cents anyway.
Share your favorite post that you’ve ever written: My favorite post ever written…that’s a hard one because I often feel like I leave a little bit of me in every post. That said, I would probably have to say that Overcoming Wardrobe Entitlement would probably go down as one of my favorite posts because 1) it was such a personal journey, 2) it dealt with organization–a personal favorite topic of mine, and 3) it truly fit my life motto–to become a developing domestic diva drawing on the divine. It definitely wasn’t the most SEO-friendly post I ever wrote, or the most eye-catching post on Pinterest, but it was a very life-changing post which is why it will probably always remain dear to my heart.

Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in Chrome.
I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I thought I’d post
to let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the issue solved soon. Cheers
