My name is Cristina and I am a wife and mother to two boys aged (about to be) 7 and (about to be) 10. I grew up in Brooklyn and moved out to Pennsylvania with my husband four years ago so I could be a stay at home mom. Back at work now that the boys are in school, I have an inspirational blog around marriage, parenting and faith as I am in an unequally yoked marriage (having converted to the Catholic faith in 2012) I also blog about writing, books, and reflections all at Filling my Prayer Closet. I also contribute to Real Housekeeping and love all things social media!
What is your Blogging Inspiration?
Everything is fodder, I always say. This means that a commute to work could inspire me as much as a conversation with the cashier at Target or spending time in prayer. It’s important to always have a pen and paper handy to jot down an impression that could turn into a blog post. When in doubt, I flip through my journal for a jumping off point.
How do you overcome writer’s block?
I read other blogs. I have my favorites, and all I need to do is mosey on over and that will often dislodge whatever it is that’s clogging the pipes. If that doesn’t work, there’s always flipping through magazines. I find that with every page turn, my mind becomes quieter and quieter, erasing the slate so to speak, and I am ready to write another day!
Share links to your favorite posts. Why are these your favorites?
How We Came to Be: This is one of my absolute favorites because it recounts how my husband and I got together. I’m telling you, it’s not a typical love story.
Don’t Forget That I Love You: This is another new favorite, where I share some deep, personal trauma for the very first time. It was also just featured on BlogHer, so that was pretty intense.
Unequally Yoked Marriage: 6 Ways to Make it Work: This post came about because a reader wanted some concrete, applicable ways that I make my unequally yoked marriage work and it turned out to be one of the more fun posts I’ve written.
Thanks again for the opportunity ladies!

As an atheist, Cristina’s is one of the few faith based blogs that I read. Why? Because she makes it interesting!
Cristina says
Aw Carrie, you choke me up every time. xo

“Everything is fodder” is one of my favorite things about your blog. Then I always meet your moments where both of us are actually doing or thinking the same thing, although we’re several states away. It’s a beautiful thing.
And why I stalk you, amongst your delicious face, of course.
Cristina says
It all has to be fodder, right? We need to find that thing that we can spin into a tale for others to read. I think that’s the point of all this bloggy-writing stuff. You would know, author of the best series! #missmabels

Do you never find, though, that with the ‘doing other things’ you just get distracted and forget to come back?
That said, you’re making it work for you, AND with the 500 words thing – that’s such an awesome motivator.
Cristina says
I never forget to come back! See, I’m here, responding to you. 🙂 Thanks for being so supportive.

Thanks Sarah! I love your posts too. They always make me feel better about, not power-washing my deck, for example!
