Hi there! My name is Kelli and I blog at eat pray {read} love about my family, my faith, and delicious food! I’ve been blogging for 6 years- 3 of those seriously- and I’m always looking for ways to improve my blog and its reach. I’ve recently begun using StumbleUpon (SU) and for 2 days in the last two weeks, my page views from SU have been higher than those of Pinterest!
There are a few tips and tricks to getting started. This is just a basic tutorial- I’m still learning myself.
1.) Download the “SU toolbar” in the Chrome browser.
It seems that SU works best in Chrome. The tool bar will look like this at the top of your browser:
2.) When you find a page you like, simply hit the “thumbs up” button on the tool bar. If the page hasn’t already been added by someone else, you’ll be taken to a screen like this:
Here, you’ll add the category, tags, and comments. It seems that SU likes tags and comments, so add those in if you have time!
3.) Also, use the “stumble” button to find posts that you might like.
You can enter interests in SU so that it will pull posts that are relevant to you. I’ve found several great recipes using SU since food is one of my interests.
4.) You can stumble your friends posts, but be sure this isn’t all you stumble
SU keeps track of these things, so be sure if you stumble your BFFs posts, you’re also stumbling random things as well.
5.) For every 15 posts that aren’t yours you stumble, you can add one of your own.
SU doesn’t mind your “stumbling” your own content, BUT it must be in a very small ration compared to other’s stuff. Spread the love!
*If you don’t use Chrome, you can also go straight to your SU homepage and “add a page” manually from there.
Follow me on SU here– I’d love to connect! For further SU advice, be sure to check out this post by Oh Mrs. Tucker!
What the Bride Wore says
StumbleUpon helped me get my first viral post… 20X traffic of other posts! It’s a great network for bloggers, and I agree with your tips. I would add that to really see a traffic benefit, make sure your content is king or people won’t continue to stumble. My viral post was an “ultimate list” of 300+ items, which I believe helped the stumbling chain continue.

I’m new at this and have found this idea intriguing. I want to learn more about this! Thx! But it looks like I’ll need to explore more to see if I can understand and utilize this…
