Hi, I’m Susie Parker. I’m a Certified Infant and Child Sleep Consultant and founder of Sleep Baby Love. My blog can be found atwww.sleepbabylove.com and through Facebook @www.facebook.com/sleepbabylove . I help families find the light at the end of the tunnel when dealing with sleep challenges or help prevent them from forming in the first place. I blog about anything and everything sleep related from newborns to toddlers. So many parents out there are exhausted and my goal is to show them they are not alone and with my support any child can LOVE to sleep!
How do you balance blogging time & Family Time?
I’m very fortunate to have a lot of help during the day and I can usually do a little writing at some point in between helping my other clients. But, usually I find that I’m working late at night when the house is quiet (like right now)
What are your top 3 blogging goals? and how are you striving to reach them?
1) Rank on the first page in Google for search terms such as: 4 month sleep regression, my baby won’t sleep, help with sleep issues or something else else that are huge topics from my targeted clientele.
2) Be seen by my followers as an expert in my sleep consulting field. Blogging helps build goodwill and loyalty and show my expertise.
3) Create an ebook to help me make money outside of helping clients.
How do you overcome writer’s block
I’m still trying to figure that out! There are a ton of topics that I want to cover, I just realize I’m slow to write them! I’m noticing I’ve been reading a lot of articles from Blogging on the Side. Good stuff, ladies!
What is your Blogging Inspiration
My new favorite blogger is A Mothership Down. She is hysterical and since we started business around the same time, I just want to see her explode with success. I actually gave her son some sleep tips and she did an awesome write up about me. She called me a less edgy Mary Poppins without an accent. Brilliant!
Do you have a blogging schedule? or just write as you feel inspired? Share what works for you and why!
I hold myself accountable to creating one good sleep blog per week by creating Sleep Tip Thursday. It isn’t always just a blog but it’s something content related to ensure I offer my followers something worthwhile.
What is your blogging niche? Do you think it is important for bloggers to keep to one or two topics, or do you think it is okay for one person to cover multiple categories on one blog? Why?
I’m very niche focused since it relates to my profession (sleep consulting). It’s so tempting to post about an adorable DIY and mom related things but I feel that my followers have so many other outlets to find those great articles. I do want to blog about my bathroom renovation and daughter’ Rainbow / Wonder Woman birthday party since it will be a good challenge for me. Just not sure if I’ll share it or not.
Share a link to your favorite post you’ve ever written. Why is it your favorite?
http://www.sleepbabylove.com/ 2014/4-month-sleep-regression- 2/ – this was a labor of love and took a long time to write but I think the content will be applicable to many potential clients when their child isn’t such a great sleeper. It’s also my longest blog.
http://www.sleepbabylove.com/ 2014/when-do-babies-sleep- through-the-night/ – this is another favorite since it shares my beliefs on why baby’s are great sleepers. Some people just don’t know and I think this blog has been helpful!
Do you have any pieces of advice for other bloggers?
Just enjoy! Do what you love to do and aim to help others with asking for nothing in return – it will be those loyal readers who will give you referrals down the road.
Lots of Sleep Baby Love,
Susie
