I wanted to offer someone a $50 gift card to use towards building a home office. I was given this opportunity on my personal blog and asked to extend it to our Blogging on the Side page & they said YES!!
Paula and I have both blogged about organizing our homes or cleaning our homes on our personal blogs, but today we are going to talk strictly about YOUR OFFICE. I was recently given the opportunity to blog (sponsored posts) about two things:
1– Home Office (here is a non-sponsored link to how to organize a home office)
2- Saving money & energy on your home with these 10 tips (one of my sponsors for one of the posts that I mentioned above)
I think that they go hand in hand. If you can blog IN AN OFFICE or in a designated space in your home, you will be more disciplined about keeping your blogging time limited.
I find that when I am all over the place (in my home) with my laptop, I am looking at my email here and my FB groups there. I am editing a post here and linking up there.
When I can keep it in my home-office (at my desk), I work on my blog during my designated two-hour time spot in the evening and have the rest of the day to play with our kids by balancing my blog & family time well.
I already actively do alot of the tips on the list, but I never thought to unplug devices when not in use! I’ll definitely try to remember to start doing that 🙂
I saw that on an Oprah show once and this woman saved hundreds a month!! I never think to do that, either, but I should start, too. 🙂
We will finish making the switch to CFLs!
We actually do all 10 – but don’t do CFL’s, do LED’s! Costco is great for them 🙂 We also run all our computers and similar on UPS bricks, those can be turned off easily – and protect against brownouts.
That’s so great!
I blog in my tiny little sewing/office space at home. I desperately need more space and would like to convert part of the family room into my sewing/office space.
Thank you for such a wonderful blog! I was just gleaning from your wealth of information, and appreciate all that you have researched, experienced and written about here. Blessings!
I could definitely use more structure in my blogging routine. I know sitting in the office would help me, but I also feel like that would be pulling me away from my family. At least if I’m on the laptop in the living room, I’m in the room with everyone else. I’ve only been blogging for 3 months, so I’m hoping to start to structure things more as I work out the bugs. Thanks for posting this.
I must admit that I have not a particularly organized office. The problem is that it is too messy, because it is not organized(I just got it not long ago, and it’s basically 1 square meter with space…). I love it, but I just haven’t figured out a place for all of the things I need, and ended up with writing on my living room table(not recommended), which also have resulted in me not writing much for quite a while. Thank you SO much for your tips, it was really inspiring, and I’m sure I will upgrade my office with many of those tips:)
I have taken over our 3rd bedroom. It was suppose to be my husbands “den”, but with the desk in there, it just makes it easy for me to work.
I normally blog at the kitchen table because my home office needs some serious organizing!
I recently refound my desk to make a work space!
I blog at ThisSimpleHome.com
I would love this! We are in between houses right now and I feel like I lost my space!
at my terribly disorganized home office
I’m fortunate to have an office/guest room in my house. It’s much easier to “go to work” when you have somewhere to go. And then it’s easier to leave it behind when you’re done and you walk out of your office. My hubby thought I was being kind of ridiculous when I first asked to have my own room for an office space, but I think he’s come to see that I really use it on a daily basis.
