Hey, I am Stasia! I am married to Andrew and mother to our sweet one-
year-old daughter Bailey Drew. I also teach preschool, help families get started with cloth diapering, and help my husband do ministry with college students… I truly do a little bit of everything!
My blog is Our Life on a Budget! As the name infers I share about living with in your means, but I also talk about parenting, preschool, marriage… really a little bit of everything!
What are your top 3 blogging goals? How are you striving to reach them?
In a nutshell? Grow, Connect, Remember
Grow…
and I don’t mean readership (although that’s nice too ;)) I mean personal growth. When I started to blog, I didn’t really know what I was doing, but thought I would share thoughts about being frugal. It wasn’t until my husband and I had a miscarriage in our first pregnancy that I really started to write. It became a way for me to learn about myself, find my love for writing, minister to women, and share with other people. I reach this goal by focusing on my writing first and foremost. Yeah, having thousands of followers would be nice, but it is the writing that I love.
Connect… I love to blog because I can connect with and learn from other people that I would otherwise never meet! This goal is a little harder for me, because I have never been social media savvy or completely computer fluent. Right now, I am working on this by sharing on social media, reading other blogs, and reaching out to other bloggers. This is the area I have to work the most at.
Remember… our blog has become somewhat of a journal of our family’s experiences. For example I was “one of those” who did monthly posts for pregnancy and for our daughter’s first year. Everybody might not need the detail, but my family and friends live far away and I love the ease of looking back!
What is your blogging niche? Do you think it is important for bloggers to keep to one or two topics, or do you think it is okay for one person to cover multiple categories on one blog? Why?
Do I have a niche? That is a good question! As I mentioned before, I am a fairly frugal person and originally started blogging with the intent of writing about being frugal (thus the name of the blog). But as my blog grew and as I read more blogs, I realized I like reading and writing about a wider variety of topics. My favorite blogs are ones that I call “this and that” blogs, covering everything from budgeting, to parenting, to whatever else! So is it important to have a niche? Maybe, certain people are looking for that, but I also think there are people like me that are just looking for a slice of life!
Share a link to your favorite post you’ve ever written. Why is it your favorite?
This is so hard! There are my posts that are more personal like the one about our daughter’s birth and ones that have become popular on Pintrest about things like tips and tricks of moving. But when I think about a post that is a little bit of both, personal and informative, my favorite is 10+1 Things I Have Learned from My First Year As a Mom. I love it because it shares some of the things I wish I had known a year ago, while also reminding me of the journey we have been on for the past year.
Thanks for letting me share! I
hope you stop by sometime!
Lovely interview. I love your goals. Especially remember. I wish we had blogs when I was in my 20s, I would have loved to be able to look back at our early years, the move to the country, buying our home, etc. That would have been nice. Can’t wait to visit your blog. Have a great day!
