Hi, my name is Kimberly and I blog at www.atimetofreeze.com. I’m a very busy mom to three kids ages three and under and I’m so blessed and thankful to be living my dream job of being a stay-at-home mom (although It just might be the hardest job I’ve ever had!) I started my blog about a year ago as a way to share all about my adventures in freezer cooking, frugal living, and other ways I manage our home full of little ones. Topics include pregnancy, organizing, recipes, toddler tips, ways to save, and little reminders to embrace the crazy and savor the important stuff.
What are your top 3 blogging goals? and how are you striving to reach them?
I just recently celebrated my first anniversary as a blogger, and it really was a celebration because of where I am now compared to where I was when I started. Let me just say that I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I first started my blog! I’m not super tech/social media savvy, so I really had A LOT to learn. Now that I have a better handle on that side of things (still learning every day!), I really want to focus on building community this next year. That is my biggest goal. Second, I would like to figure out how to balance blogging with my other, more important roles (wife and mom). It’s so easy for me to get carried away with blogging, but I need to always put my family first. Third, as my blog continues to grow, I’d like to look into ways to monetize and hopefully supplement my husband’s income.
How do you find time to blog?
With a three year old, a 21 month old, and a 3 month old, this is hard! Right now I have a glorious 2 hour window (on a good day) when all three kids are napping at the same time in the afternoon. I usually spend this time blogging. I can usually manage to squeeze in about 30 minutes to an hour in the morning, and maybe an hour or so after the kids go to bed at night, as well. Oh, and my super sweet husband stays with the kids on Saturday mornings (while the baby naps) so I can have “blogging time” at Starbucks for about 90 minutes. I’ll take what I can get! 🙂
My plan is to start waking up before the kids and spend the early mornings blogging. As soon as my newborn gets a little more regular with her wake up time, I’m really going to try this. I’ve never been very good at waking up early to get work done, but I think this will be my best option going forward as the kids get a little older and nap time might not be an option.
Share a link to your favorite post you’ve ever written. Why is it your favorite?
Recently I wrote a post about what happened when I took the kids to a play date. It was a completely overwhelming and exhausting experience, but I learned a valuable lesson that is so important for the stage of life I’m in–and I know so many other moms are in. This is one of my favorite posts because it paints the picture of life at the current moment, but it challenges me (and I hope others) to savor these moments because they really do go by so fast.
