Hello! My name is Betsy and I am the blogger and health coach behind BMoore Healthy. I am married to Brian, my college sweetheart and mama to two little girls, Madilyn, 4, and Juliana, 2. I started my blog and health coaching business in 2009 after I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
I help women, mostly mamas of young kiddos, learn how to cook healthy meals, deal with the stresses of life and learn how to make themselves and their health a priority! When I first started blogging I would write about kale and smoothies and cod liver oil but who really wants to read only about that stuff, right?
Over the last year or so, I started writing about real life – the stresses of motherhood, feeding a picky toddler, postpartum depression, miscarriage, anxiety, dealing with toddler tantrums – and my blog and business has really grown. Of course, I also write a lot about healthy foods and cooking and love to share all of my kitchen experiences with my readers! I offer many online programs throughout the year that anyone can participate in from the comfort of their own home! Programs like 12 Days of Healthy Holiday Recipes (we start November 12th – sign up!), Mama Sanity Bootcamp, Baby, Let’s Eat and my most popular program, Busy Women Mealtime Makeover. I also have two ebooks available – Cut the (Food) Crap Downloadable Fall Meal Plans and Easy, Real Winter Warming Recipes. I particularly love to work with clients one-on-one by helping them lose weight, learn how to cook healthier meals, see grocery shopping in a new way, and learn to life an overall healthier life.
How do you find time to blog?
For me, blogging is a creative outlet – therapy before bed when the house is quiet and everyone is asleep! I also see my blog as a journal of my motherhood journey that I hope my girls will want to read someday. I find time to blog in the evenings and night time after my girls go to bed. I organize my time by using a calendar. I put everything in my calendar – writing time, exercise, meal planning – you name it! My husband and I send each other meeting requests all the time!
Share a link to your favorite post you’ve ever written. Why is it your favorite?
I have so many favorite posts but I think that my absolute favorite is the post I wrote about my miscarriage – Pain. Loss. Hope. Seeing Life in a New Way. I was so scared to write this post but in that fear so much magic and love happened as a result. The response I got with this post gave me the courage to continue writing, sharing and digging deeper.
Do you have any pieces of advice for other bloggers?
I have three pieces of advice:
1. Always write with a positive spin. Sure, life is hard. However, I try to write about the challenges of life after I found that light at the end of the tunnel. I never write about something hard while I am in that moment. The magic happens after. Write about it then.
2. Be yourself. Remember your focus and who you are. Write from the heart. Your readers will love you for who you are. Don’t worry about everyone liking your blog.
3. Focus on the readers who love your blog. It is easy to always want MORE. More FB likes. More followers. More comments. More, more, more. However, when you focus on those who already love your writing, you will find more and more just like them. Build your tribe that way.
