Have you ever been to a blogging conference? I went to my very first conference last year and it was amazing. I attended Blog Elevated in Houston and I’ll be going again this year! I thought that many of you might be interested in joining me there, so I wanted to share a bit about the conference with you!

This is a learning conference. As in, you will learn until your brain hurts and then learn some more! I filled an entire notebook and then half another with notes from the conference. I learned so much about blogging and all the many ways of doing it. It was incredible.
They really search out the best speakers so each session is packed with information for bloggers at every stage of blogging. There were people there last year who had just started blogging, and others who had been doing it for years and every one was able to learn valuable information about blogging at their current stage (and for the future)!
It’s happening again this year and I would love to meet some of you there!
Here are some more details about the conference:
When: September 25-27th 2014
How much: $249 per ticket
I know for a fact it is worth every last penny of that price! It’s also REALLY affordable for a conference, I’ve seen others that are priced much higher.
There will be keynote speaking by Dayna Steele, she will be covering blogging like a rockstar! I know it is going to be amazing! (Read more about her session here)
There will also be general sessions, which I am REALLY excited about. Lindsay and Bjork Ostrom will be doing a general session about monetizing your blog like a pro. If you don’t recognize their names, they are the bloggers behind Pinch of Yum. I know we’ve talked about their monthly income reports in the past, and I can’t wait to learn from them. If you click that link you can see how they went from earning $21 a month on their blog to $22,000. Can you imagine? I can’t. Which is why I’m thrilled to get to learn from them first hand!
In addition to keynote speakers and general sessions there are also breakout sessions. These really get into some how-to parts to blogging. The sessions are broken into three categories: Business of blogging, social media and the creative track. Last year there was one session from each category at each breakout. Your ticket gets you access to any of them that you choose!
You can see the agenda here. It’s a chance to attend great break outs like:
- Bookkeeping and business basics
- Pricing your worth as a blogger
- E-books
- Representing brands with style
- Blogging with your heart
- Photography, props and setups every one can use
- Maximizing your linkdln potential
- Pinterest power! (taught by VP of content partnerships for Ahalogy!)
There are more break outs still to be announced, I know I’m already having trouble narrowing down which I’d like to attend and it’s only going to get harder!
Personal: On a more personal note, I wanted to share some of my experience from last year. As I said above I was new to the “blogging as a business” idea, and barely making any money. At the same time I was desperately hoping to earn a good amount that might enable us to buy a house. (We were living in a 3rd story 2 bedroom apartment at the time with our 2 kids) Well, after the conference I went home and applied everything I learned. My income doubled, my traffic went higher than every before and I published my first book. I don’t think any of these things would have happened that quickly had I not gone to the conference.
I sit here now in my house that we bought this year, I have the book I published on my shelf and I’m pretty amazed. Sure, these things would have happened eventually, conference or no conference, but attending helped to connect me with the people and information that I needed to make it all come together. I met Angela, who is my publishing coach there. I learned a lot about monetization, SEO and Social Media from experts in niches similar to mine. It was invaluable information. Honestly, we wouldn’t be in a house right now if it weren’t for my blog. And we might not be here yet if it weren’t for Blog Elevated helping me to improve my blog immensely at the end of last year.
I literally can’t recommend the conference enough (and I REALLY want to meet all of you!)

I would love to go to blogging conferences. The problem is money and location.
I would love to join in on something that was an online blogging conference that had guest speakers at different times.
Just throwing that idea out there to the universe.
Have a blast!

Paula, if I asked you to visit my blog and after reading a couple of posts to tell me whether I stand any chance at succeeding in this, would you?
There are so many bloggers out there who are talented writers and I feel I will never measure up to the expectations of an internet surfer, let alone a business or a brand….
