There is a lot of information to be found on webpages, but sometimes a good old fashioned book (or ebook) can be the most convenient way to learn something. I’ve read several books on blogging and social media through the years and wanted to share a few of my favorites with you today.
This post does contain affiliate links, so you can easily find the books I’m talking about to add them to your own collection!
Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World By Michael Hyatt – Hyatt is the former CEO and current chairman of Nelson Publishing company. While a lot of his advice is directly for authors it is applicable and extremely helpful for bloggers as well. He talks about social media platforms as well as finding your own voice and uniqueness. I highly recommend it to any one that is serious about blogging! And double-recommend for those of you wanting to start authoring books, as a good blogging and social media platform makes a huge difference for authors.
Your Blogging Business: Tax Talk & Tips from a Bookkeeper Turned Blogger by Nikki Hughes – This book is a great for those making any sort of income from your blog. She lets you know exactly what forms you will need to file taxes yourself, how to keep records and what types of things count for business write-offs. Very handy, especially for those who aren’t quite making enough to want to bother hiring a tax professional to do taxes for/with you yet but would still like to know you are doing everything the correct way when filing yourself. Useful now, and definitely useful in April, during tax season.
30 Days to Make and Sell a Fabulous Ebook by Angela England – This is the ebook I used when writing my first book and it helped me so much! She breaks down how to go about writing, formatting, marketing and selling your book. It also really helps to keep you on track, making time for the book without becoming overwhelmed. She created a publishing course from this book as well, which I also highly recommend to our new or aspiring authors in the group!
10 Tips to keep your blog on the side – By Paula Rollo and Becky Mansfield (yes, that’s us!) Becky and I wrote this mini-ebook to help bloggers like us who want to encourage strangers, make new friends and earn an income … without making our family be the ones sacrificing for our dreams. In this book we detail 10 ways that we keep our blogs on the side and share how you can do it as well. Even while monetizing and earning literally $1,000s each month, we both stand by our conviction that family and faith come first. Always. . . Did I mention this book is free? You can snag your copy by signing up for our email list!
How to grow your blog – by a LOT of authors (Becky and myself included) this book was a collaboration by 30+ bloggers. We each took a chapter and broke down different aspects of blogging for you. Every one can learn something from this book, and it’s neat to hear so many perspectives and so much info from one place! You can read more about this book here (Chapter names, all the authors etc).
Have you read any of these books? Which is your favorite? Do you have another book you’d add to the essential books for bloggers list?

Thank you for this post!! I get a ton of bloggerly advice online, but it’s also nice to have actual books to read. I ideally want some real non-ebooks so I can highlight them and mark them up and have them while I blog 😀
